Captain Abhimanyu Sindhu is a BJP leader and a Haryana cabinet minister holding 13 different portfolios (independent charge) in the state government.

85A former Indian Army soldier, is also an experienced politician, a renowned news paper editor, educationist, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is, at present, a member of the Haryana state legislative assembly representing the Narnaud assembly constituency of the state. He is a trusted soldier of Narendra Modi’s 2014 General Election Campaigning team.

Biography: Born in 1967 in village Khanda Kheri of Hisar District in Haryana, Capt Abhimanyu is a Chaupal-to-Twitter leader, who symbolizes progressive, positive and pragmatic new-generation politics.

Having served in the Indian Army for about 6 years and then qualifying the coveted civil services examination in 1994 in the maiden attempt, he dedicated himself to the greater cause of public service. He renounced a very successful business career to join BJP as a full-time worker in 2003.

With a working experience of more than 27 years in different fields from defence to business, social activities to media as a journalist, sports administration to being an educationist and now full-time political activist, he is one of those rarest of the rare people who shunned the cushy job of civils without occupying the chair for a single day. It takes mountain of courage to take such decisions in life.

Once a soldier, always a soldier: He joined Army in 1987 and passed out as second lieutenant on 5thMarch, 1988 to serve in 7 Mechanized Infantry Regiment (1 Dogra) as a Commissioned Officer.

During his Army tenure (1987-1993), he did Young Officers Course (Infantry), Mechanical Infantry Course, Guns and Missiles Course, and Elite Commando Course.

In 1989, he was awarded Special Services Medal (Desert).

Scholastics: Passed Bachelors of Commerce from Maharshi Dayanand University College Rohtak in 1986.
He is a qualified law graduate with LLB from MDU Rohtak, in 2006.
He also did Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communications from Guru Jambheshwar University Hisar in 2007.
And now pursuing Owner President Management Program (three-year part time executive management program) from Harvard Business School – Harvard University.

Background: He hails from the lineage of great freedom fighters of Haryana and is son of late Shri Mitra Sen Arya whose contribution to the society in Haryana and countrywide as a philanthropist and patron of Gurukul system of education is no less than an epic. Capt Abhimanyu has carried forward his legacy and is actively engaged in activities which lay foundation for a literate nation.

Family: Born to Smt. Parmeshwari Devi and Shri Mitra Sen Arya, Capt Abhimanyu staunchly believes in Hindu traditions and lives in a joint family of six brothers and has three sisters.

He is married to Dr. Ekta and has one daughter and two sons.

Long Walk of Struggle in Politics: In his political career spanning over 16 years now, Capt Abhimanyu has left indelible imprints on people’s heart through his hard work and last-mile contact programs. He is a foot soldier and comprehends socio-economic issues of bottom of the pyramid with great simplicity.

He has worked extensively in rural areas through the sun and scorch and enjoys immense popularity among rural masses. This has enabled him to generate solutions which are deliverable.

Looking at his popularity among masses in Haryana, he was appointed as General Secretary of Haryana BJP in 2005, and in 2010 the then party president Shri Nitin Gadkari elevated him to the post of National Secretary given the expanse of his knowledge of national issues.

During 2007-2009, Capt Abhimanyu conceptualized and steered many innovative campaigns like Deenbandhu Prerna Rally, Jal Adhikar Rally, Bijli Khoj Rally, Vijay Sankalp Yatra, Save Democracy Rally, Ram Sethu Movement, Jhajjar Vijay Sankalp Rally – to name a few.

His innovative ideas and rallies captured the imagination of top BJP stalwarts and were addressed by Shri Rajnath Singh, Shri Narendra Modi, Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Dr. Raman Singh and Shri Murli Manohar Joshi.

He has the unique distinction of organizing two rallies of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, one of the most adored Prime Ministers of India, at Jhajjar and Rohtak within a span of one year between 2004 and 2005.

  • In 1997, he joined the senior BJP leader Shri LK Advani’s Swarna Jayanti Rath Yatra and mobilized milling crowds for it.
  • In 1998, he was Election Agent and Co-ordinator of Swami Indervesh – BJP candidate from Rohtak.
  • In 1999, he was Election Agent and Co-ordinator of Dr. Sahib Singh Verma, former Chief Minister of Delhi; and successfully managed the entire election campaign of the biggest Lok Sabha constituency of India – Outer Delhi (35,00,000 voters).
  • In 2003, he served as the member of Election Management team for Vidhan Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh.
  • In 2007, he was involved in Media Management of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha elections; and Election Management team of Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha elections.
  • In 2008, he campaigned extensively in Rajasthan and Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections.
  • In 2012 Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections, his role remained pivotal in spearheading the victory of SAD-BJP alliance by beating the anti-incumbency mood in the state.
  • In 2004, he contested from Rohtak Parliamentary constituency against Chief Minister of Haryana Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The contest created a major political furore as Capt Abhimanyu finished second with 1,73,800 votes and the Indian National Lokdal candidate lost his security deposit.

Capt Abhimanyu is the youth face of BJP in Haryana and his role in strengthening the party in Haryana is of paramount importance and widely recognized.

Apolitical Interests: He is Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Hari Bhoomi – a Hindi morning Daily which has taken great leaps in Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and parts of Delhi and Punjab.

He believes education is the panacea to core problems of the country and is promoter of Indus Group of Institutions and actively involved with the management of Delhi Public School Group of Educational Institutes.

Capt Abhimanyu has also helped in establishing Gurukuls in various regions of Orissa, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Chhattisgarh – through his family supported organizations Param Mitra Manav Nirman Sansthan and Sindhu Education Foundation. The organizations particularly promote girls education and provide help to kids of weaker sections by giving them scholarships and free books and uniforms.

His multifarious business interests span across leasing, finance, share broking, portfolio management, transport, real estate, power generation, mining, hospitality and media. He has founded or driven a number of business concerns in different sectors, which have several firsts to their credit.

He believes in fundaments of agrarian economy and thinks this can alleviate the poorest of the poor from abject poverty. Sustainable and strong agriculture practices are also a remedy for “forced migration” of people from rural to urban areas. He himself is involved in promotion of modern technologies of farming like drip irrigation, water harvesting and hybrid seeds by practicing these at his own farms. Through community meetings in Haryana, he has promoted the culture of “Per Drop, More Crop” – one of the tenets of Narendra Modi’s vision for India.

Personal Persona: He is a sports enthusiast – loves biking and horse riding. He played cricket, basketball, boxing, hockey at inter-university and national levels.

He takes keen interest in promoting health and sports and is President of Haryana Archery Association and Associate Vice President of Archery Association of India.

A mild-mannered man of letters. Avid reader of classic genre. Ernest Hemingway’s Old Man and the Sea and George Orwell’s Animal Farm are his personal favorites and he religiously reads Gita every day in dawn or dusk.

In 2002, he was conferred with Babu Bal Mukund Gupt award for Journalism by Haryana Sahitya Akademi.

Capt Abhimanyu radiates humility, integrity and modesty. He aims to break the mould of negative politics and serve the country with virtues of highest degree. He is a political imagination materialised.

His political philosophy is “all animals are equal”.
